Interacting with the Planning pages
a. Scrolling Horizontally
Some columns may extend beyond your screen. To view all columns, you can:
- Use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the page to scroll left or right
- Click and hold your cursor anywhere on the page, then drag your mouse left or right to navigate across the columns
- Hold your <shift> to change your mouse's scroll wheel to left/right. Use the Shift key while you use your mouse's scroll wheel

b: Using Hover to view Additional details
Each cell contains additional details that can be helpful when working on a plan. To view these details, hover your mouse over any value. A small grey box will appear, showing the year and the client’s age for that specific value, along with additional data for some cells.
Depending on the column, you will also be able to see:
- The Contribution (Withdrawal) column for Registered accounts: RRSP and TFSA contribution room, RRIF minimum withdrawal amounts, and LIF minimum and maximum amounts.
- The Value column for Non-registered accounts: the cost base of the investment for each year
- Charitable donations: under Financial Assets: the cost base for assets, and under Unclaimed Amount, any unclaimed donation amounts from previous years
- Base Expenses: The combined amount and what has been assigned to each spouse
- Headers: the name of the spouse for this asset/debt/insurance or if it is jointly owned
This makes it easy to quickly access more details without leaving the Planning page.

c: Understanding Cursor Types (Pointer vs Hand)
As you move your cursor across the Planning pages, you’ll notice two different cursor styles:
|
|
Pointer (finger) cursor: This appears on interactive areas. It means you can click to either edit a value or open more details. |
|
|
Hand cursor: This appears when you’re simply viewing information. You can hover over values to see more details in a pop-up. |
d. Quick Navigation with Clickable Headings
You can always return to Scenario Setup to make changes to your plan. However, an easier way to navigate back to a specific section of the Scenario Setup is by clicking on the column header related to that section.

This will take you directly back to the original input you entered in Scenario Setup, making it quicker and easier to review or update your information.
e: Expanding and Collapsing Sections
You can collapse or expand sections using the left and right arrow icons in the section headers on the Planning pages for a simpler or more detailed view.

|
|
In the expanded view, the arrow points to the left, allowing you to see a detailed breakdown of individual columns along with additional financial information. |
|
|
In the collapsed view, the arrow points to the right, providing a summarized overview such as totals for accounts, taxes, or expenses. |
This flexibility helps you quickly switch between a high-level summary and a more detailed analysis.
f: Navigating the Top Menu Bar

In Snap, all navigation is located in the top left corner, making it easy to move across different sections at any time.
At the Menu Level 1, you’ll find your client’s details, including their name and the scenario you are currently working on. You can click directly on the scenario name to edit it, and you also have access to advisor notes. The menu (hamburger icon) allows you to switch between scenarios, compare them, or rename, copy or delete them as needed.
Below this is the Menu Level 2 for navigation within the plan, which helps you move between key sections such as Scenario Setup, Planning Pages, and the Client Report. The section you are currently working on will be underlined.
Further down on the Menu Level 3, you’ll see the available Planning pages for your client. Depending on the scenario, this may include combined pages, individual client or spouse pages, and corporate pages if applicable. The page you are currently on will be highlighted in a darker shade, and you can quickly switch to other pages by selecting the appropriate tab.
g: Using Settings Icon and Table Icon in Column Headers
You will find that some column headers also include a Settings Icon and/or a Table Icon.

The Settings Icon allows you to adjust certain settings or enable specific features within that section. For example, under the Taxable Income settings icon, you can enable or disable the Taxable Income Targeting feature.
The Table Icon provides access to additional tables, detailed breakdowns, and deeper insights related to that specific area. Under Taxable Income, the table icon opens the Taxable Income Details Table. The table icon under Total Tax opens the Income Tax Details table. Detailed tables are also available in sections such as Estate Before Tax, Estate Taxable Income, and Tax on Estate.

Display features
a: Understanding highlighted rows & columns
Different colours are used on the Planning pages to help you quickly understand key information in your plan. These visual cues help you easily identify areas that may need attention or have been customized.
Pink highlighting
With default settings, in each year of the projections where there is a negative Cash Balance, the row is highlighted in pink on the Personal Planning pages and the Corporate Planning page. This indicates a shortfall and those years are not fully funded and may need adjustments.

Grey highlighting
Grey highlights indicate that the value within the cell has been manually changed. These overrides also display an "x" to the right of the value, which can be used to clear the individual override.

b: Dynamic Columns
On the Planning pages, some columns are dynamic and will only appear when they are relevant to the client’s plan.
For example, if a client receives the full OAS benefit for all years, the OAS clawback column will not be displayed. It will only appear if a clawback is calculated at any point in the plan.
The same applies to other sections except for the CFM, Expenses and Balances columns. Only columns with non-zero data will be displayed. If you notice a column is missing, it may be because there are no inputs or calculated values in the plan that require that column to be shown. Alternatively, try switching that section's view between expanded and collapsed to show the column you're expecting.

At the top centre of the Planning pages, you’ll find tools that help you review and analyze your plan in more detail. These include Charts, Recommendations, Stress Testing, and Needs Analysis.
If your Planning page has a lower resolution or your window is smaller, the buttons will be displayed as smaller icons as indicated below.
